TSEP KERBEROS

The comprehensive solution for self-certification of LXI devices

TSEP KERBEROS offers a powerful and comprehensive option, to test the conformity of measuring devices independently and efficiently. The combination of proven hardware and sophisticated software makes TSEP KERBEROS an ideal choice for companies, that need to comply with the LXI standard while focusing on reliability and user-friendliness. TSEP KERBEROS not only provides the technical basis for LXI certification, but also ensures, that the entire certification process is seamless and efficient.

The right solution for every requirement

The TSEP KERBEROS software is available in three versions: Base, Regression Tests and Ultimate. Each version is specifically tailored to different application areas – from simple conformance tests to advanced functions for troubleshooting and automation. The following table provides a detailed overview of the functions of the three versions in order to find the right solution for specific requirements.

Base

Certification of the LXI Extended Functions

LXI HiSLIP Extended Function

With the LXI HiSLIP Extended Function, Kerberos checks the implementation of the HiSLIP-protocol (High-Speed LAN Instrument Protocol) in accordance with the LXI specifications. The test ensures that the protocol performs data transfers properly and manages the connections correctly. It also checks whether the HiSLIPconnections meet the required throughput and latency requirements, to ensure reliable communication between the measuring device and the control system. Compliance with these standards makes it possible to optimize the efficiency and performance of the measuring system in the network.

The LXI IPv6 Extended Function is used by Kerberos to ensure, that your measurement devices implement IPv6 correctly and function smoothly in a modern network environment. The test checks the full functionality of IPv6 address management and network communication to ensure that the devices can use both self-sufficient and manually assigned IPv6 addresses correctly. This ensures the interoperability and future-proofing of your devices in an IPv6-based network.

Kerberos checks the LXI Security Extended Function to test the security mechanisms, which are necessary for the protection of LXI-compliant devices in networks. Authentication protocols and encryption methods are examined, to ensure that unauthorized access is prevented. The tests also cover the ability to communicate securely over the network, without affecting the performance or functionality of the meter.

With the LXI VXI-11 Discovery and Identification Extended Function , Kerberos ensures, that the devices can be recognized and identified according to the VXI-11 standard. The test checks the implementation of the necessary protocols, that enable automatic detection and assignment in the network. This ensures, that LXI-compliant devices can easily communicate with each other and integrate into an existing infrastructure.

The LXI Clock Synchronization Extended Function is used by Kerberos to check the implementation of the IEEE 1588 PTP stack functionality. The test ensures, that all relevant PTPmessages are processed correctly and that the time constraints for synchronization are met. The aim is to ensure compliance with the specifications of the LXI consortium , while respecting the recommended accuracy of +/- 40 nanoseconds. The tests focus on the functionality within an LXI-compliant system and do not test the actual accuracy of the PTP stack, which must be validated by the manufacturer.

Kerberos -
developed on the basis of our flexible THEMIS platform

Thanks to the open architecture and modularity of our TSEP THEMIS platform we were able to quickly and efficiently implement Kerberos as a functional test and and measuring device. Thanks to the modular template system from THEMIS , we were able to transfer the hardware of Kerberos version 1.0 hardware to the new TSEP THEMIS platform in a short time .

For our internal development projects, we naturally rely on the THEMIS platform, because it enables us to realize high-quality solutions quickly and easily.
