With version 4.0 of its POSEIDON remote framework, TSEP is expanding the possibilities for integration and communication with modern measurement devices. This release focuses on native support for the USBTMC protocol as well as new options for flexible and high-performance data transmission.
POSEIDON 4.0 provides direct support for the USBTMC protocol within the framework. Devices with their own USBTMC-compatible hardware and driver integration can thus be seamlessly integrated. At the same time, TSEP offers a ready-to-use solution consisting of compatible hardware and drivers.
By connecting measuring devices via USBTMC, POSEIDON 4.0 addresses the challenges faced by many manufacturers and integrators: should they develop their own solution or use existing ones? Although the protocol is standardized, its practical implementation requires additional components, as well as their integration and maintenance within the system. Companies can now avoid the need for time-consuming in-house development and get their systems up and running faster without having to make adjustments to existing communication structures.
Flexible data formats for a variety of needs
Another key focus is on the efficient transmission of measurement data. In many applications — especially those involving large amounts of data, such as IQ data — traditional ASCII-based transmissions reach their limits.
POSEIDON 4.0 expands the existing data mechanism to include flexible formats. In addition to ASCII, measurement data can now also be transmitted as 32-bit or 64-bit binary values (IEEE 754). The established SCPI-standard format “# + length + data” is retained, ensuring that existing systems remain compatible. This enhancement allows users to choose between readability (ASCII) and performance (binary) depending on the specific application.
Greater Stability and Performance for Test and Measurement Systems
In addition, the new version includes further performance optimizations and bug fixes, making the entire system more robust and stable.
With POSEIDON 4.0, TSEP continues to expand its platform for communicating with measuring instruments. The combination of standardized protocols, flexible data processing, and compatibility with existing systems creates a robust foundation for scalable test and measurement systems.
